“Insect Eavesdropper” from the Bick Lab featured in Vegetable Growers News
Dr. Emily Bick and graduate student Dev Mehrotra (Computer Science) were featured in the April 2024 edition of Vegetable Growers News, in an article discussing their “Insect Eavesdropper” technology. These devices can be attached to field and vegetable crops and contain microphones that are able to pick up the subtle sounds of insects feeding on crops, and using a machine-learning algorithm, identify the amount and types of pests attacking the crops.
