Congressman Mark Pocan visits the MCEVBD to learn about tick and mosquito bite prevention efforts

Congressman Mark Pocan and staffers visited campus on May 30 and the first stop was the Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease. Center students and staff introduced the delegation to Wisconsin-centered work on tick and mosquito bite prevention. Attendees got to see medical entomology in action with a visit to the mosquito insectary and tick colony. They also learned about our work with summer camps and tested their skills at finding deer ticks using our full-body mannequin outreach tool. It was great to get to meet the congressman and his staff and to share this important work.
