Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease

The Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease (MCEVBD) is leading efforts in the Midwest to better understand and prevent the spread of diseases carried by mosquitos and ticks.

MCEVBD was established in 2017 as a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention with the mission of preventing vector-borne disease in the Midwest. We are a diverse group of researchers, public health experts, and vector control professionals who are working together to better understand and control mosquitoes, ticks, and the diseases they carry.

The MCEVBD covers six states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Our collaborators are a diverse group of researchers and public health experts located at universities, public health departments, vector control organizations, and private companies throughout the Midwest.
