UW Entomology students Victoria Salerno and Sophie Perry recognized at ESA
Two UW-Entomology students, Victoria Salerno (co-advised by Dr. James Crall and Dr. Russ Groves) and Sophie Perry (Dr. Christelle Guedot) received second place in their respective student competition categories at the national Entomology Society of America. Victoria was recognized for her presentation in the SysEB: Honey bees and native bees category with her talk titled “OsmiaCAM: Leveraging automated monitoring technology for solitary bee ecology and conservation”. Sophie was recognized for her poster in the P-IE: Behavior and chemical ecology category entitled “Assessing damage by borer pests on the marketability of hemp in the Upper Midwest”. Congratulations to both!
Also of note, our alumnus Matt Hetherington was honored with the an early career award: the Henry and Sylvia Richardson Research Grant!
