PhD Entomology '23 - Groves Lab
Shannon was a PhD student in the Departments of Entomology and Plant Pathology. Her research focused on studying the role of microbial associates in the transmission of aster yellows phytoplasma, a bacterial plant pathogen that has a wide host range, including many economically important crops. She began by investigating the microbial associates of its insect vector, the leafhopper Macrosteles quadrilineatus. Outside of the lab, she enjoys water skiing, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities.
