RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research program is designed to support my extension (outreach) programming. Consequently, much of my research is applied field research that requires replication over a minimum of two years. As an urban extension entomology specialist, my mission is to provide my various constituency groups including the turfgrass, ornamental, Christmas tree, and greenhouse industries with current, relevant, effective, and environmentally sound information that will enable them to successfully manage respective insect pest problems that they experience.

The primary emphasis of my applied research program is to develop Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs for insects with major emphasis on cultural control strategies and plant resistance. The goal of my research program is to develop alternative, non-chemical management strategies for insect pests which will reduce reliance on conventional pesticides.
